CONDO PERFECT
The shiba inu stands roughly 15 ½ inches at the shoulder and males weighs between 20-25 pounds and females at 16-20 pounds. Its handy size and short, easy-to-care-for coat make it an ideal apartment dog, yet its sturdiness allows it to withstand the rigors of outdoor life as well as the comfort of indoor living. The shiba can go jogging with anyone who is so inclined or can get sufficient exercise from chasing a tennis ball around the back yard.
Today the Shiba is the most popular household dog in Japan.
The Shiba is fearless, bold, high-spirited, smart, vigilant, loyal, charming but somewhat manipulative and independent. The Shiba is very clean and fairly quiet indoors.
Shibas are aloof and cautious around strangers and make great watch dogs. The Shiba Inu does best with an experienced owner who is firm and consistent and uses positive reward-based training methods.
Shiba Inus can be expected to live for about 12 years and are generally a fairly healthy breed.
Training
Because the breed is very alert and very intelligent they are easy to train and easy to learn new things. This does not mean that they will be eager to obey at all time, but many owners find that independence to one of the charms of the breed.
This breed will do well in families with children if obedience training is conducted early on. Once they are trained, the Shiba can become very loyal and dedicated to the owner and the family.
Most of the training can be performed by the owner if desired. Professionals are also available for training. Because these dogs are very clean by nature, housebreaking them is easy.

The American Canine Association also known as ACA is one of the largest registries of purebred dogs in the United States. Established in 1984, ACA is also considered America's largest veterinary health tracking canine registry. ACA has sanctioned dog shows in USA, Canada, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Also has a national recognized rescue team and is active in legislative issues that affects the canine industry, including the support of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
In September 9, 2002[1], ACA Rescue Team was recognized by US President, George W Bush, for their rescue efforts after September 11, 2001 attacks.
This canine registry recognizes and accepts other registries pedigrees and certificates, including AKC, FCI, UKC, APRI, CKC, among others. |
